The Opportunity
A leading international law firm is seeking an experienced Finance Lawyer (5+ PQE) to join its Social, Sustainable and Green Finance practice as a Managing Associate in London or Leeds.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a market-leading ESG and sustainable finance team advising on innovative transactions that support sustainability, decarbonisation and social housing investment.
You will work with some of the most prestigious organisations in finance and sustainability, advising funders, investors and housing providers on complex and high-value financing transactions.

The Team
The Social, Sustainable and Green Finance practice is recognised as one of the leading teams in the UK, particularly within the Affordable and Social Housing finance sector.
The team brings together nationally recognised experts in finance, property security and debt capital markets, allowing it to deliver complex and innovative transactions for clients across the UK.
The practice advises on all aspects of social, sustainable and green funding, including:
- Debt financing and refinancing
- Sustainability-linked finance
- Property security structures
- Debt capital markets transactions
- Social housing finance
- Restructuring and refinancing transactions
The team works with housing associations, registered providers, institutional investors and major lenders, delivering market-leading advice across the sector.
Key Responsibilities
As a Managing Associate you will play a leading role in advising on complex sustainable finance transactions, including:
- Leading bond issuances and private placements
- Advising on syndicated and bilateral lending transactions
- Supporting sustainability-linked financing structures
- Advising clients across the social housing and sustainable finance sectors
- Delivering commercially focused and innovative financing solutions
- Working collaboratively with colleagues across banking, property and capital markets teams
- Building and maintaining strong client relationships
- Supporting the continued growth of the practice
- Mentoring and supervising junior lawyers and trainees
You will work on matters addressing some of the most pressing environmental and social challenges, including decarbonisation initiatives and the transformation of social housing funding models.
Candidate Requirements
Essential
- Qualified solicitor with 5+ years PQE
- Strong background in banking and finance law
- Experience advising on complex financing transactions
- Ability to lead transactions and manage client relationships
- Commercial and strategic approach to legal advice
Desirable
- Experience in social housing finance, sustainable finance or ESG transactions
- Exposure to debt capital markets or structured finance
- Strong interest in impact finance and sustainability-driven transactions
- Experience mentoring junior lawyers
