Locum Adult Social Care Solicitor (Remote | Part-Time Considered)
Pay: £43.65 – £52.38 per hour (PAYE)
Contract: ASAP start – until 31st December 2025
Location: Predominantly remote (occasional office attendance may be required)

We are seeking an experienced Locum Adult Social Care Solicitor to join a well-regarded local authority legal team. The ideal candidate will be confident in managing a busy caseload with minimal supervision and able to provide timely, practical legal advice across a wide range of Adult Social Care matters.Key Responsibilities:

  • Represent the authority in Court of Protection proceedings
  • Provide legal advice on:
    • Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS)
    • Ordinary residence disputes
    • Funding and charging disagreements
    • Duties under the Care Act 2014
    • Mental Capacity Act and Mental Health Act matters
  • Drafting and reviewing relevant legal documentation
  • Advising officers and stakeholders within the local authority on complex ASC issues

Requirements:

  • Qualified Solicitor (or Barrister/FILEX) with a current practising certificate
  • Strong experience in local authority adult social care law
  • Ability to work independently and handle urgent matters confidently
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Working Pattern:

  • Part-time applicants are welcomed (ideally 4 days per week)
  • Remote working is the norm, with minimal in-office presence if needed
