Lynx Employment Services is partnering with a leading national and international law firm to recruit a senior-level Legal Director for their highly regarded Infrastructure, Projects & Energy (IPE) team in Manchester. This is a rare opportunity to join one of the most respected multi-disciplinary practices in the market, advising on major infrastructure, energy, transport and social-value projects across the UK and internationally.

Purpose of the Role
This role sits within an expanding team acting for an exceptional roster of clients across social infrastructure, energy and utilities, transport, central and local government, financial institutions, developers and PE funds. You will lead on complex commercial contracts, advise on major energy and transport sector mandates, and shape the strategic future of the practice. As Legal Director, you will also play a key role in team development, mentoring talent and driving growth.

The Team
This award-winning national team is known for handling market-shaping mandates and “first in class” projects across water, transport, major outsourcing, renewable energy, healthcare, regeneration and utilities. Their work is regularly high profile and often in the public eye.

The team advises on:

  • Major social infrastructure schemes in healthcare, education, student accommodation, regeneration and local government
  • High-value energy and utilities projects including nuclear, water infrastructure, gas networks and renewable energy
  • Transport projects spanning rail, ports, logistics, urban transit and transport hubs

They act for organisations such as the Department for Transport, Network Rail, Transport for London, NHS Trusts, United Utilities, the National Wealth Fund, and major councils and universities.

What to Expect in the Role

  • Advising private and public sector clients across key infrastructure, energy and transport sectors
  • Leading on commercial contracts, drafting and negotiating complex documentation
  • Managing transaction processes and coordinating with specialists across the firm
  • Supervising junior lawyers and contributing to knowledge development
  • Taking an active role in business development, speaking at events and building strong client relationships
  • Helping shape team strategy, direction and growth

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • 8+ PQE with experience in infrastructure, projects, energy and/or transport
  • Strong background supporting complex transactions and coordinating multi-disciplinary teams
  • Experience advising national-level energy clients is strongly preferred
  • Excellent client-facing skills with a commercial, solutions-led mindset
  • Enthusiasm for challenging work and confidence operating at a senior level
  • Ability to contribute to training, know-how and internal team development
