The Opportunity

An international law firm is seeking a Finance Lawyer (3–4 PQE) to join its Banking & Finance team in Birmingham.

The role offers the opportunity to work on a broad range of banking and finance transactions, including real estate finance, leveraged finance and corporate lending for both lenders and borrowers.

You will be part of a highly regarded finance practice advising on regional, national and cross-border financing transactions, with exposure to major financial institutions, investment funds and corporate borrowers.

This is an excellent opportunity for a lawyer looking to develop their career within a high-performing and collaborative finance team, working on complex and varied transactions.

The Team

The Banking & Finance practice advises a broad range of clients across the financial services sector, including:

UK clearing banks
Investment banks
Independent funders and debt providers
Investment funds
Corporate borrowers ranging from listed companies to SMEs

The team works on a wide range of financing transactions, including:

Real estate finance
Leveraged finance
Corporate lending
Acquisition finance
Structured lending arrangements

The practice is known for delivering commercial, partner-led advice with a strong understanding of market practice across the banking sector.

Key Responsibilities

You will support partners and senior lawyers on a variety of banking and finance matters, including:

Advising on real estate finance transactions
Supporting leveraged finance and acquisition finance deals
Drafting and negotiating finance documentation
Advising lenders and borrowers on corporate lending transactions
Managing transaction processes and liaising with clients and counterparties
Supporting client relationship development and business development initiatives
Working collaboratively across multiple teams and offices

Candidate Requirements

Essential

Qualified solicitor with 3–4 years PQE
Experience advising on banking and finance transactions
Strong drafting and negotiation skills
Commercial awareness and understanding of finance markets
Strong organisational and communication skills

Desirable

Experience within a leading national or City law firm
Exposure to real estate finance or leveraged finance
Interest in developing client relationships and business development
