The Opportunity

A leading international law firm is seeking an experienced Commercial Lawyer (4+ PQE) with expertise in IT, technology and outsourcing to join its highly regarded Tier 1-ranked national commercial practice in Manchester.

This role offers the opportunity to work on complex, high-value commercial and technology projects, advising clients on digital transformation, outsourcing and technology-driven change across a variety of sectors.

You will work with a broad client base including FTSE 100 companies, major retailers, energy and utility providers, and industrial and manufacturing organisations, supporting strategic projects where digitalisation, outsourcing and regulatory change intersect.

The Team

The Commercial team operates as a national practice, collaborating across multiple offices on UK-wide and cross-border transactions.

The team is recognised as Tier 1 for IT and technology law, advising on some of the largest and most complex digital transformation and outsourcing projects in the market.

The practice advises both private and public sector clients on a wide range of matters including:

Technology transformation programmes
Cloud and SaaS agreements
IT outsourcing and business process outsourcing
Facilities management and logistics outsourcing
IT licensing arrangements
Strategic commercial contracts

This is a high-performing and collaborative team, offering strong opportunities for career progression and potential client secondments.

Key Responsibilities

You will play a key role advising clients on a wide range of commercial, technology and outsourcing agreements, including:

Leading and supporting digital transformation and technology projects
Negotiating IT outsourcing and business process outsourcing arrangements
Advising on SaaS, cloud service contracts and software licensing
Drafting and negotiating commercial supply and services agreements
Supporting large-scale and mid-market commercial transactions
Building long-term client relationships and acting as a trusted adviser
Supervising and mentoring junior lawyers
Contributing to business development initiatives and thought leadership

Candidate Requirements

Essential

Qualified lawyer with 4+ years PQE
Strong experience advising on commercial and technology contracts
Experience with IT outsourcing, SaaS, cloud or software licensing agreements
Ability to lead transactions and manage client relationships
Commercially focused approach to legal advice

Desirable

Sector experience in retail, energy and utilities, manufacturing or digital health
Understanding of technology regulation, outsourcing rules or data protection
Previous in-house experience or client secondments
