The Opportunity
A leading international law firm is seeking a Commercial Contracts Lawyer (3+ PQE) to join its nationally recognised Commercial team in Edinburgh or Glasgow.
This role offers the opportunity to work on complex commercial agreements, technology contracts and cross-border advisory matters across a range of sectors including retail, technology, sports, healthcare and financial services.

The Team
The Commercial team operates across the UK and regularly works on national and international transactions.
The Scottish practice includes experienced partners supported by a growing team of fee earners, trainees and paralegals, advising an impressive portfolio of UK and international clients.
The team’s work covers a broad range of areas including:
- Commercial contracts and advisory work
- Data and digital matters
- Intellectual property protection and exploitation
- Freedom of information
- IT outsourcing and business process outsourcing
- Facilities management and logistics contracts
- SaaS and cloud arrangements
The team works closely with colleagues across the firm on major transactions and strategic commercial projects.
Key Responsibilities
You will work with partners and senior lawyers to advise clients on a wide range of commercial, technology and IP agreements, including:
- Drafting and negotiating commercial contracts, supply and distribution agreements
- Advising on outsourcing and managed services agreements
- Supporting intellectual property transactions, including software licensing, patents and trade marks
- Assisting with research and development agreements and confidentiality agreements
- Supporting work on franchise agreements, including international franchising models
- Providing advice on consumer law, data protection and advertising compliance
- Assisting with IT procurement projects, brand acquisitions and commercial transactions
- Supporting the delivery of managed legal services to clients
- Developing client relationships and contributing to team knowledge sharing
Candidate Requirements
Essential
- Qualified solicitor with 3+ years PQE
- Experience advising on commercial contracts
- Background in commercial, technology, IP or outsourcing agreements
- Strong drafting, negotiation and client advisory skills
Desirable
- Experience with IT, SaaS or cloud contracts
- Exposure to data protection or digital regulation
- Interest in intellectual property and technology law
- Experience supporting cross-border commercial transactions
