An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Adult Social Care Lawyer to join a busy and supportive legal team within a local authority environment.
This role offers the chance to work on a varied and complex caseload, providing legal advice, advocacy and litigation support across a broad range of adult social care matters.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide expert legal advice on adult social care law, including:
- Care Act 2014
- Mental Capacity Act 2005 (including Court of Protection, DoLS and Re X applications)
- Mental Health Act 1983
- Manage a caseload of complex matters, including judicial review and tribunal proceedings
- Conduct advocacy and represent the authority in courts and tribunals
- Draft legal documents including pleadings, witness statements, reports and orders
- Advise officers, members and stakeholders on legal risk and decision-making
- Support service development and continuous improvement initiatives
This role involves full litigation responsibility and regular engagement with key stakeholders across the organisation .
About You
- Qualified Solicitor, Barrister or FCILEX
- Minimum 3 years’ PQE in adult social care law
- Strong technical expertise across relevant legislation and case law
- Experience managing complex cases and conducting litigation
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to assess and mitigate legal risk effectively
