An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Adult Social Care Lawyer to join a busy and supportive legal team within a local authority environment.

This role offers the chance to work on a varied and complex caseload, providing legal advice, advocacy and litigation support across a broad range of adult social care matters.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide expert legal advice on adult social care law, including:
    • Care Act 2014
    • Mental Capacity Act 2005 (including Court of Protection, DoLS and Re X applications)
    • Mental Health Act 1983
  • Manage a caseload of complex matters, including judicial review and tribunal proceedings
  • Conduct advocacy and represent the authority in courts and tribunals
  • Draft legal documents including pleadings, witness statements, reports and orders
  • Advise officers, members and stakeholders on legal risk and decision-making
  • Support service development and continuous improvement initiatives

This role involves full litigation responsibility and regular engagement with key stakeholders across the organisation .

About You

  • Qualified Solicitor, Barrister or FCILEX
  • Minimum 3 years’ PQE in adult social care law
  • Strong technical expertise across relevant legislation and case law
  • Experience managing complex cases and conducting litigation
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to assess and mitigate legal risk effectively
