Hours: 9:00am – 5:00pm, Monday to Friday
Rate: £55 – £65 per hour Key Responsibilities:
- Provide expert legal advice on the statutory responsibilities of local authorities under homelessness legislation.
- Respond to and manage legal challenges from applicants, legal representatives, and advocacy groups regarding housing decisions.
- Support and advise Team Leaders and Duty Managers, particularly on complex or escalated cases.
- Draft formal responses and correspondence (both electronic and paper-based) related to legal queries and appeals.
- Engage professionally with applicants, advocates, and legal representatives via telephone and written communication.
- Apply in-depth knowledge of relevant case law, statutory provisions, and regulatory guidance to day-to-day legal decision-making.
Requirements:
- Qualified solicitor or barrister with current practising certificate (England & Wales).
- 2–3 years’ experience working specifically on homelessness applications and related legal matters.
- Demonstrable experience in public sector housing law and litigation (preferably within a local authority setting).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage a varied caseload efficiently.
